Line Plots are great for visualizing how numerical values change over time or according to generic sequences.
Required Features and Dimensions
Line Plot requires a measure of time mapped to the X axis. This is typically a date feature, but can also be a numerical representation of time intervals (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, …). The Y and Z axes also require numerical features. Mapping one of these creates a 2D line plot, while mapping both creates a 3D line plot.
Mapping only to the positional dimensions will create a plot with one line. To visualize multiple lines, map a categorical feature to the Color or Group By dimensions. Each category in that feature will have its own line in the visualization.
Line Plot settings, found on the Input tab of the Mapping panel, allow you to change which dimension is being used to create multiple lines — either Color or Group By.
