Community leaders are nodes that are adjacent to (or share an edge with) at least 20% of the nodes in their community. If there are multiple nodes in a community that satisfy this condition, the node with the highest level of connectivity (most coverage) within the community is selected. The Node ID’s for the community leaders will be highlighted (or a small selection if there are many).
When you select this insight, the community leaders will be highlighted, and the other nodes/edges will be dimmed. Furthermore, any edges that exist between the community leaders will be highlighted in gold (edge highlight color). This can help to determine how well connected these leaders are outside of their respective communities.
Since the community leaders are so well connected within their community, analyzing those nodes is a solid first step in interpreting what the overall community represents relative to the rest of the network.
